The Ignou diploma in management (DIM) programme is offered by the School of Management Studies (SOMS). The management school in Indira Gandhi National Open University has started its operation in 1987 with the launch of this diploma as a start-up programme in the university.

Eligibility Criteria:

The students who want to excel in the field of management can apply for admission to diploma in management in both January and July academic cycles.To apply for admission, the candidates have to follow the certain eligibility criteria which is mentioned below:

  • The candidate should be a graduate in any discipline with the minimum of 50 % marks for general category and 45 % marks for the reserved category with 3 years managerial/supervisory/professional experience.  OR  he / she should be having Professional Degree with 50% marks in any of these : Engineering/ Medicine/ Chartered Accountancy (ICAI)/ Cost and Works Accountancy(ICWAI)/ Chartered Secretary-ship (ICSI), and Law.
  • He/ She must have cleared the management entrance exam OPENMAT conducted by IGNOU.

Duration of Programme:

The minimum time required to complete the DIM programme is 1 year and the maximum time duration within which it should be completed is 8 years.

Fee Structure:

The total amount of fee for the diploma in management (DIM) programme is Rs.7,500/-. The programme fee may not remain same in the future. So, it’s advised to all the candidates to confirm the present fee structure with the nearest Ignou regional centre.

Age Requirement:

The university has not set up age limit criteria i.e. there is no minimum and maximum age limit that applies during the time of admission.

Syllabus & Courses:

The Ignou diploma in management programme consists of various courses which are mentioned below. Each course is of one credit each. In the Indira Gandhi National Open University, One credit is equivalent to thirty study hours. It consists of 5 courses (three compulsory and two elective courses to be chosen out of four).
