Ignou Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) – The Indira Gandhi National Open University offers admission to this diploma programme under School of Education,
The university has started the D.El.Ed. programme in response to NCTE public notice (www.ncte.india.org) in the following states and regions: Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Orissa, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, West Bengal, Bihar, Goa, Andaman and Nicobar, Delhi, Noida RC (already PSC activated), Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and North-Eastern states.
Also, the 12 PSCs can be activated at the national level with 100 learners per PSC. It has been designed specifically for the untrained teachers teaching at elementary level. However, he/she must fulfill the required eligibility criteria to take admission in this diploma programme.

Objective :
The main objective behind the introduction of Ignou Diploma in Elementary Education programme is to develop knowledge and understanding of the Elementary School Curriculum. It also aims at enhancing the understanding and competencies of in-service teachers for carrying out the teaching-learning process effectively at the elementary level.
The programme also takes into account experiences gained by in-service teachers and aims to strengthen their professional competencies. Pedagogical skills and attitudes in order to make teaching learning an effective and enjoyable activity.
It’s another objective is to appreciate the role of teachers in the socio-cultural and political context of the countries in general and in the elementary education system in particular.
Eligibility Criteria:
The candidate seeking admission to this programme should be untrained permanent teachers having passed 10+2 with a minimum of 50% marks or above teaching at the Primary and Elementary level (Standard I to VIII) in the recognized schools.
The teachers should have minimum two years teaching experience at the time of seeking admission. To know the eligibility conditions in detail, please check the D.El.Ed. prospectus (English / (Hindi). Also, the application form is included in the prospectus as well.
Programme Fee & Duration:
At the moment the proposed fee is Rs, 12,000/- for the entire programme. But please check the latest fee details with the University regional centre. The minimum duration of programme is 2 years whereas the maximum duration is 4 Years.

IGNOU D.El.Ed Solved Assignments:
All the students who will pursue this programme need to submit the solved assignments for each course before submitting the term end exam form and also before the last date of submission of assignments.
They must follow the guidelines and instructions for submitting the solved assignments provided in the prospectus. It is very important to attain good assignment marks by writing good answers.
