Programme Objective

The main objective behind the introduction of M.Com programme in the curriculum is to meet the increasing demand for professionals in the field of Commerce.

The commerce is an integral part of every business activity i.e industry, trade, PSUs, Government and Private enterprises in the areas like Finance, International Business, E-Commerce, and Accounting. To fulfill this demand, there is a growing need for higher education in the field of Commerce.

Eligibility Criteria

The learners seeking admission must satisfy the minimum eligibility criteria set up by the university.The candidate should possess the Bachelor’s Degree or a higher degree from a recognized University to be eligible for admission.The university has not set up age limit criteria i.e. there is no minimum and maximum age limit to apply for admission.

Medium of Instruction

It is offered by the university in both English and Hindi medium. It means students are free to write their answers in any of the languages mentioned above for both examination and assignments.

The university sends the printed study material and assignment booklet to the students at their communication address in the medium of their option.

Duration of Programme

The students who take admission to Ignou M.Com should complete it within the minimum duration of 2 years and maximum duration of 5 years. If the learner is unable to complete all the required courses of M.Com within the maximum duration, then he/she can apply for readmission.

Fee Structure

The candidates who apply for admission have to pay Rs. 11,000/- as the fee for the complete discipline. It should be noted that the programme fee has to be paid year wise @Rs.5,500/- per year.

The fee once paid will not be refunded back under any circumstances. Also, it will not be adjusted against any other programme of Ignou.

However, the fee will be refunded back to the student only if the university denies the admission. It will be refunded back after deduction of the processing fee, if any, through A/c Payee Cheque only.

IGNOU M.Com Admission Procedure

As we already mentioned above, the university offers Ignou M.Com admission in both January and July academic cycles. So, the students can apply for admission in any of these sessions.

First of all, the students must obtain the prospectus to know about the programme and other details about the university. The students can obtain the prospectus by following three methods:

• It can be obtained from the regional centre in person by paying the sum of Rs. 200/- in cash at sales counters.
• The candidates can also request the prospectus via post as well. In this case, they have to pay Rs.50/- extra. They have to pay the fee of Rs.250/- in the form of Demand Draft which has to be made in favour of Ignou, New Delhi, to Registrar (Student Registration Division), Indira Gandhi National Open University, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi-68.
• The applicants can also download the prospectus from the university official website at www.ignou.ac.in.

After getting the prospectus, the students must read it carefully to know and understand the programme. Now, it’s time to fill up the application form to apply for Ignou M.Com admission. The students can apply for admission via two methods:

Admission at Regional Centres

The candidates who wish to apply for admission should visit the nearest regional centre to obtain the prospectus and application form. The university offers the ‘Round the Year Admission’ through its ‘walk-in Admission’ scheme.

Students have to fill up an application form and submit it along the prescribed fee to the concerned regional centre. The fee should be paid in the form of demand draft.

The DD has to be made in the favour of IGNOU, payable at the city of regional centre concerned where you are applying for admission. The fee in the form of cash will not be accepted.

Online Admission

The learners can also choose to apply via online mode of admission. The university has set up an Ignou online admission portal where the students can fill up the registration form. It saves a lot of time of the applicant who wishes to apply for admission. They just need to have the working computer and internet connection.

It is very simple and easy to fill up examination form online. First of all, they need to register themselves on the website. Then they have to be login to the admission portal to fill up the application form.

The candidate needs to upload the scanned copy of necessary documents, photograph, and signature. After completing the registration process, they have to be logged in to the portal. Then, they can fill up Ignou M.Com online admission form.

Ignou M.Com Courses & Syllabus

Students have to complete the 12 courses (72 credits) to complete the IGNOU M.Com programme. If they complete all the courses within the minimum or maximum duration, they will be awarded the two-year master degree in commerce.

It consists of six core courses and six specialization courses. The student will be awarded Postgraduate Diploma in International Business Operations on completion of all first-year courses worth 36 credits and master degree after completing all the required courses.
