IGNOU MA Sociology – This programme has been offered by School of Social Sciences (SOSS) in the University.It has been designed with the main objective to provide an opportunity for learners to pursue higher studies in the field of Sociology.
It has been introduced in the studied to address the various emerging concerns of the discipline taking cognizance of needs of the students on the one hand and the cognitive ability of this discipline on the other. It focuses on the issues which are involved in the process of development of any person.

Admission Eligibility
The candidate seeking admission in Master of Arts in Sociology programme of Indira Gandhi National Open University must possess Bachelor’s degree or higher degree from any of the recognized university.
Course Duration
The student should pass or clear all the courses of this programme within the minimum duration of 2 years and maximum duration of 5 years.
Programme Fee
The total fees is Rs. 9,000/- which students need to pay Rs.4,500/- per year.

Age Eligibility
There is no minimum and maximum age bar for this course.
IGNOU MA Sociology Admission 2018
Ignou MA Sociology Admission is offered in both January and July academic cycles. The university has introduced this Master of Arts in Sociology programme to provide advanced sociological knowledge, perspectives and skills to learners across the world and also for those who are living in remote and unreachable areas.
It is available in both English and Hindi medium. It is a two-year master degree programme. The university has applied the 2-tier system approach for it.
The term end examinations for the students who take admission in January session will take place in the month of December whereas the examination for the students getting admission in July session will take place next year in June month.
Students have to pass out 8 courses worth 64 credits to complete the programme. One credit is equivalent to thirty study hours.

Ignou MA Sociology (MSO) is one of the most demanding master degree programme in which students want to take admission. The admission related advertisement is published in the local dailies and on the official website of the university at www.ignou.ac.in in the months of April-May and Oct- Nov.

IGNOU MA (Sociology) (MSO) Assignments

IGNOU MA Sociology Previous Year Question Papers
Ignou Master of Arts in Sociology (MSO) term end exams are conducted two times in a year.The exams are conducted in the month of June for January Session and in the month of December for July Session.

IGNOU MSO Hall Ticket
Ten days before the IGNOU MSO Term End Exams in June or December starts, the university provides the link to students to download hall ticket / admit card from the university official website.
Without the admit card or hall ticket, students are not allowed to sit in the examination hall.

IGNOU MSO Grade Card / Result
After MSO Term end Exams are over, it takes almost 45 days for university to publish Ignou Master of Arts in Sociology (MSO) result for June or December Term End Exams.The answer sheet for these exams are sent to different study centres for checking.
Sometimes,it takes little more time than 45 days to publish MSO result as the huge number of answer sheets need to be checked by authorised university checkers.Some students apply for the early declaration of the result.
For these students, the exam result is published soon after the exams are over.The complete result for all the previous or current semester exams can be checked in the form of grade card. The Ignou MSO grade card consists of details about Term end Exam, Practical and Theory marks.
