Ignou BDP Admission is offered by the Indira Gandhi National Open University in two academic sessions i.e. January-June and July-December. The university offers the ‘Round the Year admission’ in its three year Bachelor’s Degree Programme (BDP) through its ‘walk-in Admission’ scheme.

The BDP includes the following three main programmes such as Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.). For these disciplines, the university has applied 3-tier system approach for the studies.

The students who take admission in January session can appear for examination only after one year i.e. in the December. In the same way, the students  taking admission in July session can appear for examination in next year June examination.

Programme Details:

  • Medium of Instruction: The candidates have the option to pursue this course in both English & Hindi mediums.
  • Course Duration: The student should pass or clear all the courses of this programme within the minimum duration of 3 years and maximum duration of 5 years.
  • Programme Fee: The total fees for BA and B.Com programme is Rs. 6,000/- which is required to pay year wise : Rs.2000/- per year. For B.Sc. programme the total programme fee is Rs. 10,500/- which is required to pay year wise as : Rs. 3,500 /- per year.
  • Note : Please confirm the latest fees for the programme as it may change during the course of time.
  • Age Eligibility : There is no minimum and maximum age bar for this course.
  • Programme Courses :  The programme consists of courses in three categories i. e. Foundation, Elective and Application Oriented.

Eligibility Criteria:

The admission for the Bachelor degree programme is provided through 2 different streams :

Formal and Non -Formal. The candidates who have not passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination falls under the Non- Formal stream. If the students who fall under this stream wants to take admission in BDP programme, they need to study the Bachelor Preparatory Programme (BPP) and pass it to qualify for the admission.

The candidates who have passed the 10+2 or its equivalent examination falls under the Formal stream. They can take direct admission in this programme. In short, to take admission in Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) programme, the candidate should be having 10+2 or its equivalent certificate or BPP from IGNOU.

For taking admission in Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.), the candidate should be 10+2 with science subjects or its equivalent qualification.

IGNOU BDP Admission Procedure (B.A./ B.Com / B.Sc.): In India, the demand for admission to distance learning BDP programmes is huge. So, it is best to do the graduation degree from Ignou in distance education mode. The university provides the admission to BDP in both January and July session.

The admission related advertisement is published in the local dailies and on the official website of university at www.ignou.ac.in in the months of April-May and Oct- Nov. To apply for admission, students can visit the nearest Ignou regional centre and obtain the prospectus.

The admission forms and other required forms, enrollment card are provided in the prospectus itself. Learners can also download the prospectus for BA , B.Sc. and B.Com from the official website in the form of common prospectus.

Another way to apply for admission is to fill up Ignou Online admission form. It’s a very easy way to register for various courses at the university online admission portal. Students need to can sign up at the portal. After registration, they need to login and submit their admission form.

The supporting documents are also required to be uploaded by the applicant to confirm the admission.

Courses & Syllabus:

For the Ignou Bachelor Degree programmes,the university follows the credit system approach. The One credit is equal to 30 hours of study.To earn Bachelor’s Degree in B.A., B.Com and B.Sc., student need to earn 96 credits in a minimum of three years with 32 credits per year.

For earning 96 credits, a student has to choose the courses from the three categories of it.These course categories are mentioned as under :

B.Sc. 24 Credits 56 Credits or 64 Credits from Chemistry, Life Sciences,Mathematics and Physics (At least 25% of the total credits in Physics, Chemistry& Life Science have to be obtained from Laboratory Courses) 16 or 8 Credits

Assignments: Students need to submit the Ignou BA / B.Sc. / B.Sc  solved assignments for each course before submitting the term end exam form and the last date of submission.These assignments will be assessed by a counsellor at the concerned study centre.

These assignment marks constitutes the 30% of total marks in final exam results.So, the students to take these assignment task very seriously.It is very important to attain good assignment marks by writing good answers.It will help in achieving good percentage.

Previous Year Question Papers: In these programmes, the yearly approach has been adopted by university. The candidates taking admission in January session can appear in next December Term End Exams and those who take admission in  July session, can appear in next June exams.

If any student got failed in any course, he or she can fill up the term end exam form for that course in the next term end exams which occur after 6 months. He or She does not have to wait for an year to appear in that exam again.For these term end exam (TEE) preparation,the BA / B.Sc. / B.Com previous year question papers are very helpful.

Students can get fair enough idea about the respective programme exam pattern and the important questions they should prepare for exam.The university provides the previous five year question papers of this programme on its official website for the students convenience.

Hall Ticket: Ten days before the Term End Exams in June or December starts,the university provides the link to students to download hall ticket / admit card from the university official website.Without the admit card or hall ticket, students are not allowed to sit in the examination hall. The Ignou BDP hall ticket consists of students name,enrollment number,course code with exam dates mentioned on it.

Grade Card / Result: It takes almost 45 days by the university to publish results as the huge number of answer sheets need to be checked by authorised university checkers.

Some students apply for the early declaration of the result. For these students,the exam result is published soon after the exams are over. The complete result for all the previous or current semester exams can be checked in the form of Ignou BDP grade card.
